Despite being a self-confessed “Safety Sally”, Cunningham says she is a loud goalkeeper who likes to play from the back and is always learning.

Megan Cunningham rose through the ranks at the Celtic FC Girls youth system before leaving to join Hamilton Accies in search of game time back in 2012. After three seasons as number one at Hamilton, the shot stopper moved to Glasgow City and was involved in the Champions League squad that trained at PSG’s Parc de Princes. After a season at City, she returned to Celtic.

Having started in midfield while playing through primary school, she moved back and into goals and was involved in Scottish youth sides since she was 16. Having won a handful of caps for the senior side, Megan is keen to break back into the Scotland squad ahead of the World Cup in the summer. Having worked with a number of great coaches, the keeper admits former professional goalie Lindsay Hamilton is like a second dad, having coached her from a young age and “always having her back” both in her football and her personal life.
