Hopes for 2019: “To challenge for the title and bring silverware to the club as a team.”

2019 sees seasoned manager Eddie Wolecki Black’s first full season at Celtic.

At Glasgow City, Eddie played a huge role in shaping the landscape of women’s football in Scotland and continued to strengthen Glasgow City’s perceived status as “the ones to beat”. Collecting four successive SWPL titles, four Scottish Cups and three League Cups, marking a historic treble treble. Eddie and his side also broke ground in Europe, culminating in guiding them to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Due to City’s success, a second Champions League qualifying spot was opened up to Scottish sides.

After a spell with the Edusport Academy which trains French footballers in Scotland, he became director of Airdrie’s youth academy before moving into the position of head coach. After a year out of the game, Eddie returned to football and the women’s game. At SWPL2 side Motherwell in November 2017, he laid the foundations for the club to go on a remarkable unbeaten run in the league resulting in promotion to SWPL1 for the first time in the club’s history, with the season being topped off with a Scottish Cup final appearance. At the halfway point of the 2018 season, Wolecki Black made the move to Celtic with the aim to bring the first silverware to the club since the 2010 SWPL Cup.

Hopes for 2019: “To challenge for the title and bring silverware to the club as a team.”
