A big win has been brewing at Celtic for a while, and Eddie Wolecki Black couldn’t hide his satisfaction after his side put Hibs to the sword, winning 3-0 and marking their first victory over the Edinburgh side since October 2013.

Sarah Ewens put the Hoops ahead before the break and Chloe Craig and Natalie Ross sealed the three points catapulting them into second place ahead of Hibs on goas scored.

And Wolecki Black was delighted with the application of his side, “I did say that there’s a good result in us, and that was it today,”

“I don’t think anyone can deny that we were the better team. We were resolute in our defending, slick in our attacks and we took our opportunities, a very good all-round performance.”

Celtic painstakingly missed out on a result when the pair first met this season after taking a lead in Edinburgh but eventually losing 2-1. That, coupled with the same fate against Glasgow City a few weeks ago at Lennoxtown, proves to the manager that things might just be clicking into place.

“Since I’ve came in and even after only working with the players for a few weeks, I knew that the quality is here to win big matches like that and finally the team have proved that to themselves so now there are no more bad memories to look over in this tie, I’m very pleased with that,” he said.

With the League Cup final this Friday, Celtic find themselves without a fixture this weekend, but Wolecki Black insists that won’t disrupt their momentum as they look towards maintaining second position with a win over Spartans at K-Park next week.

“Everyone that knows me, knows there’s no such thing as a free weekend so we’ll keep ourselves ticking over, put in a number of sessions to make sure the players work hard and gear towards our next game against Spartans here,” he said.

Celtic now play Spartans at home on Thursday 15 May at K-Park, East Kilbride. KO: 7pm.
