Celtic can boast no fewer than three players in the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 team of the year, with Keeva Keenan, Natalie Ross and Sarah Ewens earning slots.
With Celtic being widely praised for this season’s efforts so far, the trio’s inclusion came as no surprise, with SWPL media team members and guest writers nominating the three after stellar terms from the three.
Keenan was the first Celt to pick up a place and was hailed for her defensive ability as well as her capabilities going forward in the fullback position as she enjoys further success on the pitch after taking home Player of the Year back in April.
Midfielder Ross’ impact in the Hoops couldn’t go unnoticed after her explosive start to the season and beyond. A former Player of the Year, her effortless combative and skilful style has seen her pull strings in the midfield as well as contribute goals.
Top scorer Ewens is just one strike away from taking her tally into double figures having continued to be on target for the Hoops after scoring the SWPL’s opening goal of the season way back in February. Notably, she enjoyed a run of five in four games in the run up to the season break.
Glasgow City and Hibs also found three of their players receiving a nod of approval, while Rangers’ Jade Gallon was given a place and Rachel Harrison of Spartans was deployed between the sticks.
