“The first objective to get through to the next round was achieved, to get through with a clean sheet is great and we’ve scored from a lot of different goal scorers, so it’s always good for confidence, I’m really happy,” he said of the full-time result.

The tie offered Wolecki Black the opportunity to award returning left-back McBrearty her second Celtic debut and was impressed by her outing in the

He said: “The fact she contributed to the goals as well was great and obviously she’s contributed to the clean sheet as well.”

But the manager wasn’t dwelling on the win for too long, and with Glasgow City fast approaching, he confirmed it was all eyes on Petershill right from the full-time whistle.

“We knew this game was coming pretty quickly after the break, so we can now fully focus on the City game and make a good push for it. Our run does breed confidence, but if I speak to you next week and say it’s eight, I’ll be more than happy,” he added.

Celtic play Glasgow City on Sunday 11 August in the SWPL1, at Petershill Park. Kickoff is 2pm.
