Celtic FC Women are delighted to that confirm striker Anita Marcos has extended her loan from Atletico Madrid for the 2020/2021 season.

Billed as one of Europe's top young prospects, Anita joined the Hoops in February looking to gain valuable experience, and after falling for the club, decided to return after the COVID-19 pandemic cut her first stay short.

The 20-year-old returns to Glasgow having trained with her parent club for the last few months and featuring in Atletico's last 16 Champions League tie against Barcelona.

And having already thrived under Hoops manager Fran Alonso earlier this year, she can't wait to reunite with the Celtic squad.

Anita said: “I’m happy to say that I am back. I enjoyed every single aspect of being here, however, due to the pandemic I couldn’t continue growing as much as I wanted. Therefore, I am here to continue growing with this great club."

The forward enjoyed a short but sweet spell with the club, making two out of two starts in wins over Glasgow City and Spartans, but despite the abrupt end to her first stint, she has remained focused on getting on target for the Hoops.

She said: "I enjoyed practicing with this group and learning from all my team-mates and the technical staff. I had a wonderful couple of months and I can’t wait to continue working with this group.

"I’m looking forward to starting to work hard with this squad again to achieve our team goals for the season. I believe I can contribute to the success of this team with my playing style and goals."

Celtic kick off the SWPL1 20/21 season at home to Glasgow City on Sunday, October 18.
